THIS WEEK IN 1970: My day with Jimmy Young

When the death of broadcaster Jimmy Young was announced this week Marilyn Jones (nee Inglis) was taken straight back to 1970 in Portsmouth.

As a 20-year-old she was one of four T-Girls for the day helping promote the old Tricorn shopping centre.

It was the occasion Jimmy spent a day at the centre, attracting big crowds in a bid to boost its popularity. And it was Marilyn’s job to look after him.

She wondered if we could find the picture of the T-Girls and perhaps one of JY at The Tricorn. Happy to oblige Marilyn.
