Were you once taught in Swanmore school which is now a café?

Barnaby’s Coffee Shop at Swanmore, near Fareham, was built as a schoolroom in 1883 and used for teaching until 1964.

Alastair Walton, one of those who helps run the cafe, says: ‘It had a variety of uses after that, which steadily declined.

‘The village got together two years ago and created Barnaby’s Coffee Shop. All our profits go back into the community.’

They are planning the reunion in Barnaby’s next March and hope old pupils, teachers, friends and children of pupils will go along.

Alastair adds: ‘So far, we’ve had a great response, and so we are looking for more.

‘On a number of occasions, we have met people who studied at the school, all of whom have been very impressed with what it has been transformed into. That got us thinking, how about a school reunion?’

Barnaby’s will host a series of events on March 7, 8, 9 and 10, ending in the full reunion event in Barnaby’s on Saturday, March 11.

Now organisers want to hear from you if you were a pupil or teacher at the school, or anyone who knew a pupil or teacher at the school.

Equally, you could be the son or daughter of someone who was taught there.
