A CHICHESTER park has won an award for the second year running.

Bishop’s Palace has been granted a Green Flag Award, marking it out as one of the best parks in the country.

Councillor Peter Clementson, chairman of Chichester District Council, unveiled the flag at a ceremony in the gardens yesterday.

Bishop’s Palace Gardens stood out after impressing the judges with its use of green space, well-maintained facilities and high standard of safety and security.

Cllr Clementson said: ‘I would like to thank all of the Chichester Contract Services Grounds Maintenance Team and the volunteers from the Friends of Bishop’s Palace Gardens for all their hard work in making the gardens look so wonderful.

‘Without their help this award would not be possible.

‘The gardens are enjoyed by residents and visitors alike, and can be accessed from Canon Lane, which is off South Street.’
