GRANTS of almost £3m have been given to farms, small businesses and rural communities,

West Sussex County Council hosted the administration team for Leader Local Action Groups.

Council leader Louise Goldsmith said: ‘The team responsible for the programme estimates that more than 67,000 rural residents have benefited from improved services or facilities.

‘The Leader projects have been a real success story and helped protect and improve the rural economy during these tough economic times.

‘The range of projects it has assisted is really remarkable and we must now wait and see if there will be future funding.’
