What's on at this weekend's Michaelmas Fayre?

AN ANNUAL community fair will be taking place in Gosport this weekend.

The 29th annual Michaelmas Fair will be held on Saturday, September 29 in Alverstoke, filling Village Road and Green Road with music, stalls and laughter.

Around 160 stalls will be at the event, about half of which represent charities and local community groups '“ selling everything from home made preserves and local crafts to antiques and liqueurs.

The usual funfair and food stalls are set to return '“ with street entertainment from the HMS Sultan Volunteer Band, Big Noise Samba Band, The Men's Shed Choir and more.

There will also be a special 10p '˜Messy' Fair in St Mary's Church grounds for youngsters, and an organ recital in the church.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Gosport in partnership with St Mary's PCC, all profits will go towards the mayor of Gosport's chosen charities, the Rotary Club Charity Fund and The Parish Centre maintenance fund.

The day will be running from 12-5.30pm.
