TWO friends are close to completing a mammoth cycling trip to honour a friend who survived an accident.

Nick Jobe, 25 and Ben White, 26, both of Southsea, are taking part in the Land’s End to John O’Groats cycle.

The pair are due to complete their challenge today, and will have cycled around 85 miles a day for 11 days.

Nick, of St Ronan’s Avenue, said: ‘Last year a mate of ours had a serious cycling accident and he had to go to Wessex Neurological Centre.

‘He wasn’t given much chance to survive, but thankfully he did.

‘We want to cycle 950 miles in 11 consecutive days and raise money for the centre.’
