Here is The News's letter of the day from Celia Clark '“ Southsea Seafront Campaign.Â

We are deeply concerned that the promised analysis of July's consultation about Southsea sea defences has still not been published.

We believe this was promised at the end of September? We had heard the delay was because it was first referred to the Members' Group, but surely that has recently met?

It would seem that the longer the delay in letting us know the public response to the designs published in July, the less likely it is that the designs can be modified in response to what people said.

In the report of the public workshops held at the same time as the consultation, which several of us attended, there did not seem to be any commitment to doing that.

We support the Hampshire Buildings Preservation Trust's request for detailed and responsive workshops involving local people and conservation expertise for each section of the seafront as soon as possible. Doing this will of course make the process towards planning permission easier, since we will have had the chance to help shape the proposals.

We have asked Councillors Judith Smyth and Stephen Morgan MP for assurances that the workshops will soon be announced.
