Have your say

Are you single and looking to make new friends?

Then Solent Social and Single Group could be just what you are looking for.

When I moved to Hampshire I knew nobody except my mum.

I was single and wanted to make new friends.

So I thought of creating a social group.

The group was founded in August 2010 and now we have over 700 members.

I didn’t create this group intending for people to find relationships or marriages.

It was purely for people who were single.

It gives them the opportunity to make friends and have a social life.

Many relationships have blossomed from our club and for that I am proud.

Our average age for the club is around 35 to 55 years old but we invite anyone.

We do have some younger and some older.

We regularly go on events like for a bike ride along the seafront and organise trips to the pub.

We do lots here.

We normally have one to three events a week, but sometimes we don’t have one.

People have had marriages or relationships out of our club.

It makes me happy to see others happy around me.

At the moment in the club there are more women than men.

We are looking for people to join.

As the club is getting bigger so is the friendship group and more events happen.

Our club has appeared on BBC Solent radio and after the broadcast the club had lots of members join.

Our aim is friendship not relationships.
