Why Portsmouth parents are facing a financial strain as kids head back to school

MORE than half of all parents in Portsmouth claim the rising cost of sending their child back to school this week has put their family under financial strain, according to a new study.

Figures released by price comparison site Idealo found that 51 per cent of Portsmouth parents are struggling financially after the ‘back to school’ burden, with rising technology being cited as the main culprit.

Idealo’s Katy Phillips said: ‘It’s clear from our research that the cost of sending a child back to school this week has put a major financial burden on parents.

‘From purchasing the latest tech to ensuring your child has the big-name sports brands, the costs can easily spiral.’
