FAMILIES were dazzled by Wickham’s spectacular firework display that lit up the dark sky on Saturday night.
Young and old were left mesmerised by the colourful sea of colours that transformed the sky for the family bonfire and firework display at Glebe Field.
Organised by the 1st Wickham Scout Group, scores of people wrapped up warm for a chilly night with a warm drink or cup of soup at one of the refreshment stalls.
The Scout group were selling luminous toys to raise funds for an international expedition they hope to go on.
And judging from the amount that was being sold – much to the delight of the children – the Scouts will get their dream trip.
Others treated themselves to a delicious hot dog while gathering around the raging bonfire.
Residents who attended the event said they had been thrilled by the display. Marie Groves, 36, said: ‘What a spectacular display it has been. Everyone’s had a great time.’
Charlotte Welsh, 53, said: ‘Everyone’s been enjoying the display and it’s nice to see so many people.’
Adam Bantom, 44, added: ‘The kids have loved it here tonight with all the different fireworks. It’s been fun to watch.
‘There’s been plenty of fun for all the family and we’re glad to help raise funds for the scout group for their trip.’
