Wightlink pledges to be more environmentally friendly

A FERRY company is looking to be more environmentally friendly by launching a Green Manifesto.

Wightlink has made the pledge following the successful launch of its new hybrid energy flagship Victoria of Wight — the culmination of a £45m investment.

The first initiatives will include the installation of chargers for electric cars at Fishbourne terminal; reducing the use of plastics and welcoming reusable cups at Wightlink outlets.

Chief executive Keith Greenfield said: ‘As a ferry company we have a responsibility to the marine environment. We have embarked on a journey to reduce our environmental footprint.’
