A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital after a crash that blocked the A27 eastbound at Chichester.

The accident happened just after 1.15pm today on the Fishbourne roundabout when a lorry carrying a mobile home collided with a car.

The woman – who is believed to have been driving the car – had to be extricated by firefighters and has been airlifted to hospital in the past few minutes.

The A27 eastbound is shut and traffic is being diverted along Terminus Road.

Traffic is at a standstill and emergency services remain at the scene.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service had three fire trucks rushing to the scene, along with its hydraulic rescue appliance.
