A WOMAN and her daughter escaped from a fire at their home yesterday.

The kitchen blaze happened at a home in Hambrook Road, Brockhurst, Gosport, at 10.10am.

Two appliances with 10 firefighters from Gosport tackled the fire on the ground floor of the two-storey home.

A senior officer from Hampshire Fire and Rescue headquarters attended to provide tactical advice.

Station manager Tim Spencer-Peet said: ‘The cause of the fire is being further investigated.

‘At the moment it looks very much like it was accidental.

‘The people got out and called us out.

‘It was a small fire in the kitchen.

‘It was contained very quickly in the room.

‘We used post-fire mechanical ventilation to clear the smoke.’

Firefighters from Green Watch from Gosport fire station used four breathing apparatuses, two hose reels and ventilators.

The incident was over by 10.42am.
