KINDHEARTED Tricia Cane decided to raise money for a new breast cancer centre in a rather unusual way.

The fundraiser took to the Meridian Centre in Havant wearing as many items of pink clothing as she could find.

Pink is the colour of charity The Haven, which opened its fourth regional centre in Titchfield last week.

Tricia asked shoppers to guess how many pink items she was wearing and to make a donation to join in the competition.

She said: ‘I took guesses from work colleagues and my partner’s work colleagues and friends as well.’

Later that day, she appeared on Portsmouth radio station Express FM at the end of her pink clothing charity event, where DJ Josh Beaven counted up the number of items, and announced the total live on air.

The zany lady had been wearing 116 items, with a few items being disallowed for being peach or purple.

Currently, Tricia has raised more than £300.

All the money collected will go to The Haven breast cancer care centre.

The charity is something Tricia said she ‘cares very deeply for’ after surviving breast cancer herself.

She has held previous fundraising activities to help the centre open, doing a similar good deed last year, raising £78, which she said she was pleased to have exceeded this year.
