Woman to hold comedy night in memory of honoured mum

A woman running a charity comedy night hopes to raise money for the Portchester Community Association in memory of her mum.

Claire Colley says she wants to give back to the Portchester Community Association, which helped rebuild her confidence and make her employable again after years of caring for her mum Wendy Richardson, MBE, who died in 2015.

She said: ‘The Portchester Community Association welcomed me in and gave me plenty of jobs to do.

‘They really supported me and until eventually I did manage to get a part time job.

‘I still volunteer for them as well but they rebuilt my confidence and prepared me for work through volunteering.’

Mrs Richardson, who received an MBE for her services to foster care, is known in the community to have raised a lot of money for the local community and charities before her passing.

The comedy night will include
showcases from four renowned comedians, Andrew Watts, Suzy Bennett, compere Sajeela Kershi and Grainne Maguire.
