A WOMAN had to be rescued after a fire broke out in a second-floor flat during the early hours of yesterday.

Crews from Southsea and Cosham were called at 2.05am to the fire in the four-storey block of flats in Clarendon Road, Southea.

They used a high-pressure jet to put the flames out, and a ‘positive pressure’ fan to get rid of the smoke.

No-one was hurt and the fire was out by 2.50am.
