A WOMAN had to be rescued from the River Hamble after she suffered a seizure on the pontoon and fell into the water.

The woman, who was in her 40s, went into the river at Hamble Point Marina and she was rescued by the marina’s safety boat.

Two lifeboats - from Hamble and Calshot - were called to the scene and were coordinated by the Coastguard headquarters in Fareham.

Police and ambulance crews were also called to the incident, which happened at 11.45am yesterday.

She was rescued and taken to hospital by 12.30pm.
