COSHAM firefighters spent 90 minutes dealing with a fire which broke out in a pile of wood chippings in a Portsmouth factory.

Two fire engines attended the small fire at Stevens Washrooms’ unit on the Highgrove Industrial Park at Quartremaine Road, Copnor, at 5am. They believe it started spontaneously.

Firefighters said they were alerted by an engineer in a building opposite and got there quickly enough to stop it spreading. They left at 6.30am.
