A classic nursery rhyme has been transported to the Wild West for an action-packed pantomime in Havant.

Young people at Dynamo Youth Theatre have given up the majority of their Christmas holidays to rehearse for the pantomime, which is based on the Old Mother Hubbard rhyme.

But there's a twist.

St Faith's Church Hall in The Pallant, Havant, has been magically transformed to the prairies of North America where Old Mother Hubbard and her children are granted a wish by the good fairy - to find their long-lost Uncle Oswald.

The pantomime is the result of months of hard work by the 62 members, aged between 11 and 18 years old, and the artistic director Andrew Bowker.

Tricia Roberts, publicity officer, said: 'The group has been going 29 years and next year will be our 30th birthday.

'They have given up their Christmas holidays to rehearse. Dynamo has not produced a pantomime for a long time. We thought it would be a really good experience for them.'

The show opens on Wednesday, January 5 at 7.30pm. For tickets call (023) 9245 4244 or visit
