The next generation of musicians will showcase their talents at Portsmouth’s Guildhall.

The Tomorrow’s Music Today project, brings together aspiring musical talent from schools and colleges in the city and surrounding area.

The students have planned every aspect of the show, from organising ticket sales to stage times, giving them the experience of on and off-stage management.

The project is part of the Get Into Music scheme, which was launched by the Portsmouth Cultural Trust, and aims to give more people the chance to perform at one of the region’s largest venues.

The night will see performances from New Groove from South Downs College, Hollowed Hour from Portsmouth College, Josh and Daisy from Mayfield School, A.L. Ren who recently finished studying at Brighton Institute of Modern Music and a group of Year 9 students from Admiral Lord Nelson School.

The Get Into Music project aims to provide youngsters with knowledge and experience in the technical and backstage music industry, so they can appreciate both sides of the music business.

The show is part of the Guildhall’s 125 years celebration.

The event is sponsored by the Musicroom.

Store manager David Courtney said: ‘It’s great to be part of this event because musical talent should be celebrated.’

The performance starts at 6pm tomorrow.
