Motiv8, in Gosport, launched its Buy a Brick campaign last year to help raise money to extend their building so they could help more people.

The charity was nearing the total needed to complete the extension and thanks to a donation of £6,153 from Gosport Rotary Club the works can be finished.

Kirsty Cremer, Motiv8 Gosport and Fareham services manager, said: ‘We have been overwhelmed by the support of the community, our partners, families and young people while fundraising for the extension at Toronto Place.

‘Our thanks go to Gosport Rotary for their amazing support. The money will finish off the extension so we should be able to move in at the end of July.

‘We will be able to work with more young people so this donation will benefit not only young people but the community too.’

Before the donation by the Rotary club, Motiv8 had raised nearly £7,500 towards the extension. They were able to start the work and the money from the Rotary club will be used for shutters, carpet, flooring and furniture.

The total cost of the project was £85,000, with property charity LandAid Charitable Trust donating £50,000.

Other grants were also given to help towards the cost leaving Motiv8 to raise the remaining £15,000.

President of Gosport Rotary Club, Ken Eckersley said: ‘I became aware of Motiv8’s work in Gosport about three months ago and felt it was a worthy cause for the president’s charity.

‘We are delighted to assist with equipment and furnishing the new extension to enable it to become operational.’

The extension should be in use from July and the charity will hold an official opening in September.

Motiv8, which has been in Gosport since 2008, supports young people in the community with their education and developing skills.

It moved to Toronto Place four years ago and has since seen its services expand. For more information on the charity visit motiv8south.org.uk
