TWO young people are in the running to win a chance to sail on a leg of a round-the-world yacht race.

Sir Robin Knox-Johnston from Gosport’s Clipper Ventures and Sir Ben Ainslie have put on the competition.

The winner will take part in the Pacific Ocean leg of the Clipper 2015-16 Round the World Yacht Race.

Charlie Stannard, 19, from Tower Hamlets, London, and Heather Thomas, 18, from Otley, West Yorkshire, have been shortlisted by the legendary sailors.

Both will now undergo extensive training at Clipper headquarters in Gosport.

Skippers will assess the pair and one person will win the prize, which is worth £10,000.
