YOUTH groups from across Gosport will be showcasing their skills and activities at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport.

The Gosport Stars Showcase 2012 takes place tomorrow from 11am until 3pm.

It is part of the community project to save HMS Alliance, the Second World War submarine that is the memorial to 5,300 British submariners who have lost their lives in service, which has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The event will include a range of activities for families and young people to explore, including building a giant structure, building a Lego submarine and trying on army equipment.

The Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue Service’s newest boat will be on display and live music will be provided by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Army Cadet and Gosport District Scout Bands.

Daniel Ball, the museum’s learning and outreach officer, said: ‘This is a first for the museum to celebrate the young people of Gosport through the fantastic activities they get involved in.’

Gosport Stars Showcase is free with a valid museum ticket.

The museum is open every day and includes a submariner tour of the submarines.
