AN ANTI-BEGGING order for Fareham town centre is set to be agreed today.

Fareham Borough Council’s executive will debate the implementation of a public spaces protection order that would give the police and appointed council officers additional powers to punish anti-social behaviour, begging, street drinking, drug-taking and rough sleeping.

A public consultation saw 96 per cent of residents back the proposals and council officers have also backed them.

The meeting at the Civic Offices takes place tonight from 6pm.
