AN MP has welcomed the awarding of thousands of pounds for a lifeboat charity.

Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (Gafirs) have received a £5,000 grant from the government through the inshore and inland rescue boat grant fund.

The grants are awarded on recommendation by an expert panel.

Caroline Dinenage, Gosport MP said: ‘I particularly welcome the news that Gafirs is receiving £5,000.

‘In Gosport, we all know of the tremendous work the group do. I do hope this grant will be useful to support their work.’
