AS THE winter settles in, MP for Fareham Suella Fernandes is urging people to stay on top of their heating.
It comes as figures from British Gas revealed that more than a third of all UK households have not checked that their central heating is working, and that one in four have not had their boiler serviced this year.
The Fareham MP is urging people to have their boiler checked by a registered engineer to see if there are any problems that may lie ahead.
Ms Fernandes said: ‘It’s really important to keep a step ahead of winter.
‘I want everyone in Fareham to understand what help is available for them, and for their family and friends.
‘Being energy efficient and keeping bills under control is really important, so I’d encourage people to get in touch with their energy supplier to find out what support is on offer.’
British Gas engineer Andy Robertson said: ‘Winter can be a challenging time for households, but there are some practical steps that you can take to make sure that you are prepared.’
