The application is expected to be one of two with the developers hoping to build 132 houses in total.
Land to the east of Tangier Lane will be targeted with a second planning application as part of second phase for the development.
Residents have been commenting on the application, addressing their concerns about the effect the development would have on residential street Albany Road.
Louis Irwin of Albany Road, Bishop’s Waltham objected to the development stating the adjoining street Albany Road does not provide sufficient access and that it will be ‘impossible’ for this to be the main route to the development.
He said: ‘Many houses have two or more cars and need to park them along the road.
‘There is no alternative for the residents and the amount of cars parked on this road will only increase.’
Julie Boarder of Albany Road backed up Mr Irwin’s point stating: ‘Albany Road is not designed to be a main road and anyone who tries to access Winchester Road after 8am in the morning will confirm it is a nightmare already.’
David Thompson of Ashton Lane, Bishop’s Waltham said: ‘The application makes no comment on the adequacy of Albany Road and appears to simply ignore what is a very obvious and serious issue.’
The 6.6 hectare site is located to the south western edge of the town within a largely open farmland setting.
According to the developers, 40 per cent of the housing will be affordable.
Chris Stutchbury of Albany Road admitted that development of the site will ‘eventually occur.’
However, he added: ‘Development of the site is premature and will significant detrimental effects. It should not be carried out until adequate alternate access is provided probably via Albany Farm onto Winchester Road.’
A public consultation on the plans was held in April.
