Emergency services had to be called after the boy’s knee became trapped in a tight gap close to the bottom of the trees.

A crew from Gosport Fire Station used spreading equipment to free the boy – who was not injured – in a procedure which took less than 20 minutes.

A spokesperson for the station said the boy became ‘emotional’ after he got stuck, but was comforted during the incident by members of school staff.
