PREPARATIONS are well under way for Gosport’s ‘premier beer festival’.
Winterfest once again takes place at Thorngate Halls in the town on Friday, February 19 and Saturday, February 20.
More than 100 real ales, ciders and bottled beers will be on offer for guests at the event, put together by the local branch of the Campaign for Real Ale.
And this year there’s a focus on brews from Bath and Bristol, with 30 different varieties being brought in from the regions.
The Friday daytime session runs from noon until 4pm and in the evening it’s from 6.30pm to 11pm.
Saturday’s day session runs from 11.30am to 4pm and the final session takes place from 6.30pm to 11pm.
Live entertainment will be provided by eight-piece act The New Party Collective, Gosport Silver Band and Jack Rabbit during the occasion.
Proceeds will be raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.
A panel of judges will determine which beer should go through as a regional finalist in Camra’s national winter beer festival.
Co-organiser Dave Livingstone can’t wait for the occasion.
He said: ‘We are really, really excited about it.
‘I’m looking forward to trying ales from the Bath and Bristol area, and this will be a winter festival focusing on different winter varieties like stouts and porters.
‘It’s Gosport’s premier beer festival and the largest one the Camra branch do.’ Tickets can be bought from The Sirloin of Beef, in Eastney, The Hole in The Wall, in Southsea, The Brew Pot, in Gosport, The Queens Hotel, in Gosport, and The Crofton, in Stubbington.
