Gosport man stabbed during attack by gang

The victim, who is 22, is not believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries. 

The man was attacked in Barnfield Close, Southampton, at around 9pm yesterday (October 15). 

In a statement Hampshire Constabulary said: '˜We are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed yesterday (Monday 15 October) at around 9pm on Barnfield Close. 

'˜A 22-year-old man from Gosport was assaulted by a group described as young men or teenage boys.

'˜The man and his friend met the group in the Close around 9pm and shortly after the attack occurred.

'˜The man remains in hospital in a serious condition. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening at this time.

'˜Officers are carrying out enquiries in the local area today.

'˜It is believed the incident occurred near a parked white or grey Fiesta.

'˜Did you see this car? Did you see or hear anything suspicious in this area around this time?'
