BUDDING entrepreneurs were able to get expert advice at a business networking event.
Well-established owners and those who are looking to start their own company in the future were invited to Gosport’s first enterprise fair in the Jarvis Gallery at St Vincent College, which was hosted by MP Caroline Dinenage.

The event was the curtain closer following various talks as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.
Ms Dinenage, a businesswoman herself, had more than 100 representatives from various companies attend, which included Nigel Duncan, principal of Fareham College, and Anne-Marie Mountifield, chief executive of the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership.
Ms Dinenage said: ‘I was delighted to host Gosport’s very first enterprise fair.
‘The fantastic turn-out of over 100 guests proves that Gosport has a big appetite for events like this, which showcased the funding support and advice on offer for entrepreneurs and business owners in the local area.
‘I would like to thank all of the guests and delegates that made this event a success.
There were talks from Darren Holt of Angel Marine, who explained how LEP funding had supported him as he grew his business.
James Baggott, who is managing director of Baize Group, a motoring PR, editorial and events company, also spoke about the importance about having a good team surrounding you.
Mr Baggott, a former News journalist, said he worked 18 hours a day when he was setting up his business but all the effort was worth it.
He said: ‘Our area is a great place to set up a business.
‘When I hire people, I take them on for their attitude first of all. This is because I know they will fit into the business and then I will be able to teach them the skills whilst there on the job.’
Councillor Stephen Philpott, chairman of Gosport Borough Council’s Ecomonic Development Board, said: ‘The week has really helped open people’s eyes to the support and opportunities that are available, and changed mind-sets about things – previously people were looking at these services as a cost rather than an investment. I’m looking forward to continuing to build on the success.’
