STAFF working at two naval bases have teamed up to improve a day service in Gosport.
Interserve staff working at HMS Sultan in Gosport and HMS Collingwood in Fareham went to the home of Gosport Day Services, clearing up the site for service users.
The team cleared overgrown plants and vegetation, turned over vegetable patches and cleaned and painted the centre’s benches.
A new quiet area was also established by creating a pathway and building a new bench for visitors.
Gosport Day Service offers the opportunity for adults with learning disabilities to develop independence and social skills through activities within the community.
Gosport Day Services team leader, Jo Hall, said: ‘We thought it would be great to get a couple of the jobs needed in the garden completed.
‘Well the results were amazing – the team got so much done it was crazy.
‘The service users’ faces when they saw all the work they had done were priceless, they were so impressed and couldn’t stop saying thank you.
‘Thank you does not seem enough, we are truly grateful to this amazing team for what they achieved in one day.’
Reprographics supervisor Rob Morrow said: ‘It was great that we were invited to help, it was a privilege to be part of such a rewarding day and for such a good cause.
‘It was just a brilliant day and such a fantastic team effort.’
