A WARNING has been issued to parents who are lifting their children over the fence of an airport.
Fareham Borough Council has received reports of children being lifted over the fence of the viewing platform at Solent Airport – which it says is putting the children and pilots in danger.
The viewing platform at Solent Airport in Lee-on-the-Solent has a safety fence around, with a sign instructing people not to climb it.
Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Sean Woodward, says that these parents are an ‘irresponsible few’.
He said: ‘It is quite astonishing that parents would put their children at risk by lifting them over the safety fence.
‘The council wanted to provide unrestricted views of the airfield so removed the 12ft safety fence and replaced it with a lower one.
‘It would be a great shame for the many people who now enjoy this area if the original fencing needs to be reinstated because of the actions of the irresponsible few.’
