A GROUP of marine businesses has called for further transport improvements from Fareham and Portsmouth to the Gosport peninsula.
Gosport Marine Scene (GMS) says that with plans to develop the Gosport waterfront and the Royal Haslar Hospital, transport to the eastern side of the peninsula should be keenly looked at.
The group backs the proposed £35m Stubbington bypass.
GMS secretary Peter Cardy said: ‘Both the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership’s infrastructure plan and the Stubbington bypass are set to improve connectivity but they need to look more at improving connections into the marine side of Gosport.’
GMS has also said that the Harbour Station should be renamed Portsmouth and Gosport Harbour Station to raise awareness of the link between the two places.
The group has also called for a ‘more effective’ bus route between the Gosport peninsula and Fareham Railway Station, claiming it would have marked benefits.
