Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage joined armed forces personnel from the Royal Navy selling poppies at Monument Station in central London.

Over 150 staff from bases in this area were in the capital yesterday, including HMS Collingwood, the Diving School at Whale Island and HMS Sultan. The Gosport bases had a great turnout, with 80 Sultan personnel doing their bit to raise money for the Poppy Appeal.

Ms Dinenage said: ‘I was honoured to join the HMS Sultan team in London collecting for the Royal British Legion.

‘This is such a worthy cause and reminds us of the huge sacrifices that these brave people make to keep us safe.

‘Huge thanks to our local service men and women for supporting this campaign and in particular Sultan’s Steve Munday for recruiting so many of them.’
