AN MP has welcomed the news five artificial intelligence medical centres are to open across the UK next year.
Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage said the move has the potential to revolutionise healthcare.
The government has announced new technology centres in London, Oxford, Coventry, Leeds and Glasgow will harness Artificial Intelligence in order to save lives.
As part of the modern Industrial Strategy, the centres will use AI to speed up diagnosis and improve healthcare and treatments. The software will use digitised biopsies and scans to help early diagnosis, including cancer.
Caroline said: ‘Artificial Intelligence has the potential to revolutionise healthcare by saving lives and means that NHS clinicians can channel their time and resources into personalised treatment. With the increasing pressure that we are seeing placed on our precious National Healthcare Service, I am delighted that we are using innovative technology to improve patient outcomes and make sure every pound goes further.’
