Police investigation as man, in his 60s, suffers ‘unexplained’ head injury in Gosport car park

POLICE have cordoned off a car park after a man was found with a head injury.

An air ambulance landed at Walpole Park.

The patient was taken to Southampton General Hospital, the major trauma centre for the area.

A Hampshire police spokesman said: ‘We were called at 12.17pm after a man in his sixties was found with unexplained head injuries.

‘He has been taken to Southampton General Hospital and we are investigating the circumstances.

‘We would like to hear from a man who stopped in his car to assist but did not leave his details.

‘Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident 372.’

The car park, near Gosport’s high street, was shut by police but is expected to re-open later this afternoon.

South Central Ambulance Service has been contacted.
