Emsworth British Food Fortnight is back with tasty offerings for all in 2018

AN award-winning, all inclusive community celebration of food is back with a bang next month.

The town of Emsworth will once again be hosting Emsworth British Food Fortnight and is promising locals and tourists alike an '˜amazing' programme of events.

Part of the national British Food Fortnight '“ which gives towns and cities across the UK the chance to show off its food heritage '“ Emsworth has won the competition twice since its foundation in 2014.

Giles Babb, chair of the Emsworth Business Association, said: '˜Emsworth British Food Fortnight is not just another food festival.

'˜It's a celebration embracing community and education and celebrating Emsworth and the region through its people and its food.

'˜It's no secret that high streets across the UK are facing difficult times and this is a brilliant way to showcase just what can make a high street such a special place and an important part of any community.'

Between September 22 and October 7, a number of events will take place in the town.

The Big Feast Weekend is part of it, running on September 29 and 30, and includes the Emsworth Beer and Cider Festival, Hampshire Farmers' Market, The GRAPE Escape,  the '˜Thought for Food' local showcase market and Emsworth Apple Pressing Day.

Emsworth businesses will be getting involved with tastings, special menus, new product launches and demonstrations, primary schools and colleges and supporting the town's food bank.

Helen Pattinson, co-founder and director at Emsworth's Montezuma's Chocolates, said: '˜We are really excited to be supporting the event again this year.  

'˜Producing all of our chocolate just a few miles away, the fortnight is a fantastic forum for us to get as many people to try Montezuma's as possible and showcase our products.

'˜We will be at the '˜Thought for Food' market and we're really looking forward to the wine and chocolate tasting event with organiser Alistair Gibson. Our chocolate will be found in many puddings served in and around Emsworth during the fortnight.'
