Have your say

AN AWARDS evening which will celebrate the contribution of volunteers is fast approaching.

The Havant Volunteer Awards will recognise the time and energy given by people across the borough to good causes.

More than 50 nominations from the voluntary and community sector were received for the six categories, which are: Young Person of the Year, Business Team of the Year, Voluntary or Community Team of the Year, Mayor’s Special Commendation, Lifetime Achievement and Unsung Hero.

The winners of each category will be contacted in the next few days.

The ceremony, which is by invitation only, will take place at Langstone Technology Park on Thursday, May 25 at 5pm.

Community First is co-ordinating the event and Councillor Elaine Shimbart, Mayor of Havant, and Paul Livingston, vice-president of Lockheed Martin, will be presenting certificates and/or trophies to the award winners.

Pupils from Warblington School will be providing musical entertainment.

Havant Borough Council, Lockheed Martin and Tesco are sponsoring the evening.
