Hayling's Eastoke beach to be replenished by council

A COUNCIL is replenishing a beach frontage to help protect an area from coastal flooding and erosion.

Havant Borough Council will be restoring the beach frontage at Eastoke, Hayling Island, with shingle.

The works are part of the South Hayling Beach Management Plan and will begin on Monday for four weeks.

Shingle will be removed from Gunner Point and the Coastguard Revetment where it has built up over the summer and transported along Hayling seafront to restore depleted groyne bays prior to the winter period.

The beach will remain open to the public the whole time with council and contractor staff on site to ensure safety.
