THE winner of a Christmas card-making competition entered by hundreds of schoolchildren has been announced.

Councillor Peter Wade – the Mayor of Havant – declared Hart Plain Junior School pupil Henri Hoare victorious in his festive contest for 2018.

The Waterlooville youngster was among scores of dab-handed entrants in school Years 4 to 6 who tried their hands at designing a card themed on ‘the magic of Christmas’.

His prize is £50 for his school, while his card will also be one of three sent out officially by Cllr Wade during the festive season.

The others come from Sam Cooper from The Waterloo School and Daniel Parham of Bosmere Junior School, as the competition’s runners-up.

Cllr Wade said: ‘It has been very hard to choose the winners with so many wonderful and creative designs.

‘I would like to thank all the children and schools that entered this year’s competition.’
