A YOUNG football team from Havant is going from strength to strength – in what is only their first season.
Widbrook Storm under-13s were formed last summer, under the managerial eyes of Graham O’Hare and Stu Huffer.
The players come from a variety of schools across the region, including Oaklands, Purbrook Park and Warblington.
Currently, the team are gearing up for the final of the Hampshire Cup, which will be held on Saturday, April 1.
The Hampshire Cup can be entered by any team in the county, from any league and any division.
As well as this, Widbrook Storm have advanced to the final of the League Cup.
The team is also performing well in the Mid-Solent Youth League where they are in Division A.
Graham explained: ‘We have a mixture of abilities within the team and not all of the boys knew each other when we initially formed.
‘As you can imagine, I am immensely proud of my boys, they have really pulled together and their hard work has paid off to get them this far.
‘We also have a great set of parents who act as ‘taxi drivers’ and supporters, and we have had help from some great local businesses, Selco – which is a building supplies company; Camouflage Cow a printing firm in Havant and Bedhampton Builders Bros Ltd.
‘These local companies have helped the team with the kit they wear and training supplies and their help has been very much appreciated.
‘To be able to reach the finals of the Hampshire Cup in just our first season, win or lose, is a truly amazing achievement.’
