Liquid and Envy is set to be rebranded to PRYZM in a move that its new owners say will create 75 new jobs.

The venue is to be taken over by Deltic Group, who have renovated and rebranded nightclubs across the United Kingdom.

Deltic says a total of £1 million is set to be invested into the nightclub, with the goal of making it the largest nightclub in Portsmouth.

The new general manager will be Dave Joyce, a former Portsmouth resident who has been managing PRYZM Brighton for the last 10 years.

He said: ‘It is so good to be back in Portsmouth and bringing the very best clubbing experience to the city I know and love. It’s incredibly exciting and I can’t wait to reveal all in June.

‘There has not been any investment of this nature in the city for around 11 years and that was when Liquid opened, so it’s long overdue. In the meantime it will be business as usual at Liquid, while work goes on behind the scenes and we hope to keep disruption to a minimum.’

He said the club will be recruiting for 75 full and part-time positions, from bar staff to hospitality and sales assistants; current employees at the nightclub will also be staying on.

He added: ‘We want people who have a positive attitude and want to be part of our great new venture. Keep your eye out for our recruitment drive in the near future.’

Regular party-goers from across the city say they are excited for the future of the venue.

Robin White, from Gosport, said: ‘I’ve been going to Liquid since my 18th birthday.

‘I kind of wish it would stay the way it is as Liquid and Envy, but its great that there are more jobs being made.’

Mary Crane said: ‘I think it will give the club a whole new vibe and atmosphere, for the better. I think it’ll bring more people to Portsmouth.’

Jenan Richard added: ‘This news makes me so excited. Im intrigued to see the changes that are going to be made and can’t wait to have a night out and see the results for myself.’

Jessica Caspall, a student at the University of Portsmouth, said: ‘I think the revamp might bring a classier reputation; I’ve had a really good time there and hope the atmosphere will remain.’
