HMS Queen Elizabeth has been carrying out flight trials of the F-35 lightening fighter jets, where bombs were dropped from them, off the east coast of the USA.
Families of the sailors were among those to gather at the naval base this afternoon to welcome home their loved ones ahead of Christmas.
More work will now be carried out on the carrier before she enters active service in 2021.
