A 91-YEAR-OLD man was scammed out of £20,000 in a distraction burglary.

The pensioner was targeted between 2.30pm and 3.30pm on Saturday, April 16, in Redwing Court, Southsea.

A Hampshire police spokesman said: ‘The 91-year-old victim answered his door to a man who claimed to be from a water company and said the water supply was contaminated.

‘The victim let the man into the address and accompanied him to the bathroom to test the water.

‘While the victim was distracted, another man entered the property and stole up to £20,000 in cash.

‘An efit image of the first man has now been produced. He is described as white, aged in his 30s, around 5ft 10ins tall and of slim build.

‘He had dark hair and spoke with what could have been an Irish accent.’
