It was the fantastic hospital care he received that inspired cancer patient Malcolm Walker to take on an exhilarating challenge and give something back to the department that helped him.
Malcolm, 65, took part in a charity skydive to raise important funds for Queen Alexandra Hospital’s renal department – and he didn’t let his age or his cancer stop him from making the leap.
He did it with his sister, Jennifer Russell, who chose to fundraise for the hospital’s oncology department after her son was treated there.
Malcolm, from Petersfield, developed bowel cancer five years ago and has been a patient at the Havant Dialysis Unit ever since.
He said: ‘I have found the care at the renal department fantastic, and because of this I wanted to give something back.
Taking part in the skydive meant Malcolm raised £810, which has been put towards important renal research.
