City MP backs scrapping cap

PORTSMOUTH North MP Penny Mordaunt has backed Prime Minister Theresa May's decision to the housing borrowing cap.

The decision, made by the PM at the Conservative Party Conference, will help resolve the current housing crisis in the UK, according to Ms Mordaunt.

She said: '˜The announcement the government is going to scrap the cap will mean that councils will have many restrictions that currently have prevented them from kick-starting a house building programme lifted.

'˜In Portsmouth we've got to get on with regenerating land we have brought back into use '“ Tipner especially '“ to provide the homes we need, without using the green spaces.'
