Going from fat to fit with Village gym

Promoted by Village Hotels

Reporter David George is taking up the challenge of getting fit with the help of the new Village Hotel gym at Lakeside, Portsmouth - and we’ll be following his progress over the next six weeks as he attempts to go from fat to fit with the help of a personal trainer.

At the moment, the only six-pack I have is sitting in my fridge.

My lifestyle has had a detrimental impact on my health – but hopefully that’s all about to change.

The new Village Hotel gym in Portsmouth has hooked me up with a personal trainer for the next six weeks, to see if I can actually shed some weight (and, crucially, keep it off).

Training began this week which, for a lazy, 105kg takeaway-lover like myself, came as a big shock to the system.

Lifting weights and being pushed to my physical limits by my trainer Richard Higgins (pictured above), served as a fierce reminder of how unfit I really am. But I’m enjoying it. The adrenaline rush of getting through the exercises is something I had practically forgotten existed.

It’s going to be a long journey, but fingers crossed I can prove that no matter what shape or size you are, you can get fit in a matter of weeks.
