TWO people have now received their British Empire Medals.

The Rev Canon David Power, of Copnor, and Marian Stapley, of Paulsgrove, were given the awards by the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire.

Mr Power received his for services to the community in Portsmouth. Mrs Stapley received hers for services to charity, as she runs the Chernobyl Children’s Life Line in Portsmouth.

The pair were among six from Hampshire who were handed the awards on Monday after being recognised in the New Year Honours.
