THE first hair and beauty salon has opened in Port Solent, bringing some glamour to the waterside development.
Marina’s Beauty Box opened at the Trading Post on the Boardwalk and a party was held to celebrate.
The salon has been set up by former PCSO Holly Wharf, from Drayton.
Holly, 26, said: ‘It was a really good opening. A lot of people turned up, a lot more than I thought would. It was really positive, it went really well.’
The salon will have two double-sided stations, with three stylists, and an aesthetic practitioner working in a filler clinic.
It is the first hair and beauty salon to open in the area – and already people have been booking up sessions.
Holly said: ‘We opened on the same weekend as Port Solent held its Christmas fair, so we had a few customers come in from that.
‘It’s going well as people are starting to know that we are here, it’s a lot of word of mouth, especially around Port Solent itself.
‘Christmas is a good time to open, with people booking in for their Christmas parties. It’s picking up, slowly but surely.’
Hair stylists Charlene White and Alice Cowell are working at the salon, as well as Holly’s mum Sarah Garcia.
Sarah, from Drayton, said: ‘It has been brilliant. It’s really nice. We have had a really positive reaction.
‘Port Solent really needed something like this, especially for the people who live here.
‘They say they are pleased that we are now around the corner. It’s been busy considering we have only been open for a few days.’
The salon will stock Matrix products and Holly says it has a ‘sleek and classy’ feel.
She also hopes to extend the range of treatments soon.
The salon is open Monday to Saturday. For more details call (023) 9400 1186.
